So a big change has taken place in our home.  Pumpkin is going to preschool and so is Mommy!  I am so excited that I was hired on to be an assistant teacher at Pumpkin's preschool.  I work the same days that she goes to school.  The preschool is an amazing place and I am just thrilled to be back working with kids.  Our first official day was Monday although we've been going in for two weeks now so I could help get things ready for the beginning of the year.
Pumpkin was so excited about going to preschool and having a teacher just like Peanut.  Two of her buddies from our church are in her class too so that was the icing on the cake for her.  We also discovered that Peanut's teacher's little girl is in Pumpkin's class too.  What a great year it will be!
Peanut is so happy that finally Pumpkin is going to school too.  It never seemed fair to her that she had to go but Pumpkin didn't.  Haha!
Each morning she has to sign herself in when she gets to preschool.  She is beginning to write her name all on her own and we are so proud of her!!!
These are her awesome teachers.  The teacher on the right is the main teacher and was also Peanut's teacher when she went to preschool here.  We love her!
How can it be possible that this little girl is in preschool already?  I can't even think or talk about what next year holds for her.  It makes me tear up.  This is my baby!  We are so proud of the little girl she is. She is a treasure to us!

FIRST Grade and an Interview with a 7 year old

What a week!  Peanut is officially a first grader!  We attended her Meet the Teacher afternoon and went to an ice cream social on Tuesday.  She was thrilled to see some familiar faces in her class from last year.  We met her teacher who seems really awesome.  Deep sigh of relief from Mama!  We met the new principal who I have heard is amazing.  I'm so excited for a great year for her!
Does our little girl run in to her new classroom and find the girls?  NO!  She sought out her boy buddies from last year and wanted to sit by them.  I love that!

Here are some pictures from Meet the Teacher and her first day of school.  I'm going to put her 7 year old interview here too since I have yet to do that.

Solar Lab

A few Saturdays ago the girls and I took the bus downtown to spend the afternoon.  We are quite the fans of riding the bus now, especially since our town put parking meters all over so you have to pay for parking.  We hit the university's observatory to see the sun.  They used a high powered telescope to project the sun onto a screen in a darkened room.  We watched as clouds floated in front of the sun and hid it from view.  Afterwards we headed upstairs to the top of the observatory where the 1,000 lb. telescope lives.  The girls got to move it and rotate the dome shaped roof.

There were also some activities for the kids to do. One of them was to make a UV bracelet. The beads are special beads that turn white when they are not in UV rays. As they are put in sunlight, they darken to different colors immediately. Solar Lab at the Observatory Solar Lab at the Observatory
We spent some time at the library then hit up a local pizza joint downtown. Upon leaving the girls were ECSTATIC to see a snow cone truck. They split a cotton candy snow cone which was not up to their expectations. Better luck next time. Shaved Ice Sold from a food truck
We even mastered catching the bus home on this trip. What a fun lazy Saturday before school started for us!

A Lake Afternoon

The girls and I spent the afternoon at the local lake yesterday afternoon.  How sad that the weekend before school starting is the first time we've made it there all summer?  We're hoping to fit in one more trip tomorrow.  We shall see!

More Birthday Celebration

Peanut's birthday has just spread out over a week.  How fun is that?  Dobbie was going to come down and celebrate with us on Saturday but Papa was sad about missing because he had to work.  She postponed to come on Thursday with Papa, so we celebrated again yesterday with them.  They took us out to a new favorite place of ours in town for lunch, Cheddar's.  Then we headed to a local playground and creek for some afternoon fun.  It was a gorgeous day that included the girls sliding down a cement hill into a stream.

Pumpkin wasn't too sure about it but Peanut had a ball.

The sliding fun quickly ended when a snake was spotted swimming near the kiddos.  YIKES!

We headed up a trail to see a waterfall and play more in the stream.  We live in a really gorgeous area.  It's on days like this that I realize how I take it for granted and make promises to myself that we will get out and enjoy the natural beauty more often.

We had to end our day out with a trip to THEE ice cream place. YUM! The Moose
I still have Peanut's 7 year old interview to post. I will get to that soon! We've just had so much fun celebrating this week. '

A Last Minute Adventure

This past Tuesday the girls and I went on a last minute adventure.  I have been hearing about a local community and some of the fun things it has to offer to families.  We decided to give it a try and it was well worth it.

There is this HUGE indoor play area that the girls played on for a few hours.  It was totally free too.  I kept thinking to myself, "Why doesn't our town have something like this?"  It would be perfect for rainy days or wintery days.  It was really cool.
Summer Adventures
Peanut had a blast climbing inside of this huge net climbing contraption. She spent most of her time in there. It was the biggest one I have ever seen. Summer Adventures
There were many things for the girls to climb on, slides to go down, tunnels to climb through and much more.

This town is crammed full with awesome architecture and art. We checked out a really cool sculpture before heading off for a treat.

Our next stop was a 113 year old ice cream parlor. We ate a really tasty supper then dove into some scrumptious ice cream treats. It felt like stepping back in time. The parlor was stunning inside with so many original characteristics.

We are squeezing as many drops out of this summer as we can.  We are down to less than a week before Peanut starts school!!!!  Argh!
