Palm Sunday

This past Sunday was Palm Sunday. The girls were very excited to be a part of the worship service at church. All of the kids 3 and up got to wave palm branches during worship in both services. I wasn't sure how Pumpkin would do in front of all of those people but she was great. She beamed with a smile full of joy and proudly waved her palm branch. Peanut who loves being in front of a crowd did wonderful also.

During the second service we sang "Hosanna". The words to this verse really struck me: "I see a generation Rising up to take the place With selfless faith, selfless faith. Hosanna, hosanna Hosanna in the highest!" How awesome are those words? Imagine the stage being full of children praising God while singing that. Incredible!

Go Hoosiers

We have been cheering on the Hoosiers during March Madness.  They are doing so well and we are so proud to be a part of this great university at such an exciting time. Go Hoosiers!

Warm Spring Day

Last Saturday was beautiful.  I watched a friends' boys for her and her husband during the day so they could work on moving into a new home.  The kids and I walked to a park and they played and played outside.  It was glorious!  They even got warm enough to take off jackets. P3233154 P3233151
That evening we spent with some other friends playing outside even more.  After lots of play and supper we headed to a local ice cream shop for pajama day. The kids wore their pajamas and got a free waffle cone FULL of ice cream. The pick for most of them was Cotton Candy ice cream which was full of pop rocks candy. Can you believe that my little girls at the whole thing? I couldn't! P3233158
That beautiful day full of playing outside and a trip for ice cream really got us in the spring mood but alas, Mother Nature had something different in mind for us over the course of the next few days.  More on that to come later.

Bragging Rights

We are so proud of Peanut.  Her reading and writing are exploding right now.  She is working hard and she is seeing success which makes her so excited.  She has been writing letters to her buddies when she knows we're going to see them.
Writing a Note to Friends
She also really has shown a love for art. She is always drawing something. Our Artist
She made this painting at school a few weeks ago of owls. We just loved it. "That one needs framed," is what Daddy said.
Pumpkin has started drawing people and they are the cutest little beings! IMG_1027

Spring Break

Spring break was two weeks ago already.  How does that happen?  Time just keeps going on and on.  We spent half of our week with Gigi and the other half with Dobbie and Papa.  We saw alot of friends and family and spent time relaxing.  It was a really good week. Here are some pictures from our time away.

There was snow which the smallest ones in our family were excited about. Spring Break 2013 Spring Break 2013 P3143139
The girls had some sewing lessons. Spring Break 2013 Spring Break 2013
Peanut learned how to play Battleship and beat Daddy.

Dobbie remembered what it was like to "try" to go to the bathroom by yourself with small children around. The girls sat outside the door talking to her and sticking their toes and fingers under the door.
We are so thankful for a restful week.

One More Snow Day

Spring is rapidly approaching and for that I am thankful.  The first year that we lived here a dear friend told me, "Just wait!  Spring is magical here."  She was correct.  It is!  BUT...I still was longing for one more good snow and it came.  Last night we got a few inches of snow which caused school to cancel today and that meant Peanut was home and we played.  We met up with some buddies to go sledding this morning.

It was very cold so we had to warm up with some hot cocoa when we got home. You would have never guessed that's what we had though from Pumpkin's face. IMG_1759

Seusspicious Behavior

We spent the afternoon at our local library celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday with a lot of other people in our community.  It was a fantastic afternoon.  The girls were amazing...not one melt-down and they followed directions.  They got high fives for that great behavior once we made it back to the van.

We got to meet the beloved Cat in the Hat.  I love to watch their expressions when they see characters like this.  It's truly what being a kid is all about...those looks of total admiration!
We stood in line for at least 30 minutes to get their faces painted. They didn't mind. In their minds, it was well worth their time.
They ate cupcakes and played some fun games which earned the well loved sticker! IMG_1732 IMG_1749IMG_1752
One of the drama teams from a local high school put together a play from The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss. It was adorable, funny, and kept everyone's attention. IMG_1728 IMG_1729
The girls even got to pick one of their favorite books from the library to do a small segment for the local PBS station.  Peanut picked The Deer in the Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder. She said she liked that book because, "Pa goes hunting but doesn't shoot the deer because it has a baby and is big and wild. That made Laura and Mary happy." IMG_1756
We had a great day celebrating one of the most famous and beloved children's authors of all time! Happy 109th Birthday, Dr. Seuss! IMG_1726

Dr. Seuss Party

Yesterday a friend of ours invited us over for a Dr. Seuss party.  We had a blast with all of the kiddos and some really fun Dr. Seuss themed snacks.
We didn't have any Dr. Seuss themed clothes so Pumpkin let me do a crazy hairstyle on her for the party to show our zany Dr. Seuss side. IMG_1701
We had truffula trees made out of cotton candy, cat in the hat hats made out of cheese and tomatoes, and green eggs and ham made out of pretzels, white chocolate, and green m and m's. IMG_1695
I made green eggs out of green pudding and vanilla wafers. Peanut told me later, "Mom, thank you for making the green eggs! They were so good!" IMG_1698
Oh, this girl...she is zany and fun! IMG_1702
