Halloween 2012

We are done with Halloween 2012!  The girls are all tucked into their warm beds in warm pjs after a very chilly walk for the beloved candy.  It was a very successful evening if success is figured according to how much candy is in their bags.  (Too bad the kit-kats will be missing from those bags by morning...shhh!   Don't tell!)
Halloween 2012
We walked through a local neighborhood with some of our buddies from our apartment complex. We had another buddy walk with us but we met up with he and his mom later and I forgot to take a picture of him with all of us. He was the FBI agent we hung out with the another night though. We even got to hit up the library's bookmobile that was in the parking lot when we got back from trick or treating! SCORE!

Peanut got to be snack helper for her class at school today. They didn't have a party but I had to make their healthy snack a bit fun since it was Halloween. So she got to take mummified Nutrigrain bars! Halloween 2012

Trick or Treating at the Frat Houses

The university does a trick or treating night for the kids in our community.  It was held last night so we ventured out into the remnants of hurricane Sandy that was over our state.  It was very cold and wet but we have electricity, our home, and no destruction.  Much to be thankful for and much to pray for in regards to those out East.

The trick or treating is done on a street lined with sorority and fraternity houses.  The students decorate and dress up themselves.  They pass out a ton of candy.  They do face painting, games, pass out extra snacks and so forth.  They also oooo and ahhh over the little kids.  It really is a fun evening.

We went with some special friends just like we did two years ago.  First is the picture from last night and second is the picture from two years ago.  My how they've changed!

D&P Visit Us

State Park Visit
This past weekend Hubby was away with the youth group from our church at a retreat. Dobbie and Papa came down to hang out with the girls and I. Dobbie was itching to get away for a bit so it worked out well on both sides. We had a lot of fun together. Sunday we took off to visit a local state park. The park has a pioneer village within it. We just happened to visit the final weekend that the village is open with volunteers in each of the buildings. It was so neat! State Park Visit
The village was established due to the mill that was built at this site. The original wheel rotted away but it was rebuilt by the CCC in the late '30's. They still use it to grind corn into cornmeal just as they did almost a century ago.

The girls learned how to make bread without an oven. State Park Visit State Park Visit
This was a really great trip. I love it when you go expecting to have fun but find there is even more fun to be had! We had no idea the village would be open and filled with volunteers to give us the history of the buildings. Love it!

Thanks for visiting D&P!

We tried to enjoy the gorgeous weather last week as much as we could.  We took the girls on a walk one afternoon before supper.  Peanut stopped, got out her pretend camera, and took a picture of her baby in her stroller.  I have no idea where she learned that taking pictures of your kids is very important.  Ha!

Pics from the Teacher

A couple of weeks ago I opened my email up while Peanut was at school and I had two emails from her teacher. She had sent me two pictures of Peanut practicing her sight words. Pics from the Teacher
This one was for Daddy to remind him that she likes pizza. They had gone out on a pizza date the night before.

Peanut also came home last week with this drawing of her family. I think she got us spot on!

Fall Harvest Festival

On Saturday a sweet friend and I loaded up our kiddos and headed to support another dear friend and her husband.  Her hubby runs a local camp and put together an incredible harvest fall festival for the public on the grounds.  We were all very excited and ready for some time out and about.  There was a chill in the air but we were bundled up and the sun was shining down on us.  We had a really great time together.

Peanut had a ball riding this pony, Taffy. Pumpkin didn't want to ride. She was more concerned with getting inside the building and warming up. Fall Harvest Festival
The next stop was snacks then on to the bounce houses. The kids all had a blast jumping and climbing in these!

School Fall Festival

Friday night Peanut's school had a fall festival Friday night.  Peanut came home from school Friday afternoon proclaiming that they could wear their costumes.  Whoops!  We're not quite ready for this upcoming holiday in the area of costumes so the girls dug some things out of the dress-up box.  They looked cute even if it was a last minute effort.
  School Fun Fair
We decorated pumpkins with stickers, got faces painted, watched the older kids dance, and loaded up on snacks.

We hung out with Peanut's buddy and his incredibly sweet family. Daddy was out of town so they even invited us out to dinner after the festival. We had a wonderful evening with these awesome friends.

New Camera

I have been really wanting my own really nice camera.  I have had my eye on a DSLR for years but couldn't justify getting one.  I saved my Christmas and birthday money and after searching for the perfect deal, found one a few weeks ago.  I still had trouble spending that much money on myself.  I have also had a really hard time distinguishing between a need and a want in this area.  I know it's a want, but is it, really?  Yes, it is.  I did go ahead and buy the camera after waiting until the last day of the sale I had found and even almost the last hour.  I almost had to have Hubby press the "Confirm Sale" button.
Mommy's New Camera!
The camera came this past week and I am in love.  It is amazing and it takes awesome pictures.  I foresee a long and wonderful relationship.

I ended up with a Canon Rebel T3.  I have heard only good things about it.  I'm excited to learn about it and take great pictures with it.

I had fun snapping a few pictures the first afternoon of some willing subjects.
