Partying with Friends

Since this was the big kid 6 birthday, we let Cora pick a few friends to invite to a small birthday party on Sunday.  When I asked her who she wanted to invite the list was VERY long.  She is our social butterfly.  We had to narrow the list down quite a bit.  She also LOVES camping so I had put an idea in her head about using camping as the theme for her party and she was so excited.

As I am preparing for birthdays, I always bite off more than I can chew and I can get a bit stressed out especially when I put off getting things done.  Things turned out so well though and the kids had so much fun together.  In all honesty they don't care about the extras, they just love being together.  I love that!  I also love adding the extra touches and I had most of the stuff on hand to make it all come together.
Peanut's Camping Birthday Party
For her birthday party camping food we had hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll strips, macaroni cheese baked bites (adapted from THIS recipe), watermelon, and "bug juice" to drink.  The "bug juice" was just green Hawaiian Punch and pink lemonade mixed together to make a mysterious "buggy" color.

The hit from the food table were marshmallows dipped in chocolate with sprinkles. We had these in place of s'mores.

Daddy set up our new 8 man tent for the kids to play in. This was a hit! Peanut's Camping Birthday Party
The next adventure was to send the kiddos off on a nature scavenger hunt. They had fun working together to fill their bags with their goods. Peanut's Camping Birthday Party Peanut's Camping Birthday Party
Peanut was very excited to open her presents from her friends. She was so blessed with so many fun things and she passed out lots of hugs to everyone along with squeals of delight.

The next party event...well, CAKE of course! This cake was so easy to make and turned out so cute for Peanut's camping birthday party.

The kids ate cake and drank more "bug juice" then headed off to the playground to play for the last bit of the party.

That sweet little boy on the right made an extra special card for Peanut for her birthday. You can read about that HERE.

To go home each child got to take two special treats. One was a hobo pack on a stick with prizes inside and some s'mores for later.

It was a wonderful day! We had a great time with these special little friends. What a great first "big kid" birthday party for Peanut!
