Summer Fun

We have been keeping busy with lots of summer activities so far this season. It has been HOT, HOT, HOT already so we might as well make the best of it!

Last weekend our neighbors invited us to head to a local lake with them. We had a bit of an adventure finding an open beach since said lake was quite flooded. Once we found a spot to swim, the beach was underwater so the kids played in the mud. They were quite content making mud pies instead of sand castles.

Here you can see how flooded the lake still is.

We've also been on several play dates. Some friends had us over the other day so the kids could splash in their wading pool. Unfortunately both of the girls were not as adventurous about sliding into the water as the boys. Peanut did it twice and then wanted me to hold her hand so she wouldn't go so fast. Pumpkin also did it twice and then resumed control of the water hose.
Yesterday we headed to the splash pad. The girls BOTH ran to the splash pad, were knocked over by running kids and got really scraped up knees, ankles, and hands. UGH! This put a damper on Peanut's mood especially. We didn't last too long this time. Pumpkin had fun playing in her bathing suit though at home with Peanut's bike gear on. Maybe she wants to train for a triathlon?
