Playing Catch Up

We're still here. I'm going to jump right in and do a quick summary of some highlights of our past couple of weeks.

We have had some beautiful weather (and not so beautiful). The girls have had fun playing on our deck in the water table that Gigi got Pumpkin for her birthday. They got to have their snack out there too and thought that was really awesome!
Snack on the Deck

Pumpkin has been thoroughly enjoying the many fruit smoothies we made during the warm weather. They are a great way of getting good things into this pickly little eater.

Peanut got to do some special things one-on-one with us. Daddy took her one evening after dark to the observatory on campus to see the moon and stars. She was much more thrilled than she appears in this picture.

I took her to the local county historical museum for a fun craft day. There were VERY few people there so she got a lot of attention. She made some neat music themed crafts and got to meet a local musician and try out her mandolin.

Peanut also made some fun coffee filter Easter eggs to decorate our windows with. We used markers to color coffee filters that I had cut into egg shapes. Then we sprayed them with water and watched the colors bleed together. Fun, fun, fun!

The highlight of the past couple of weeks was time with friends. We swapped kids with friends of ours. They took our girls one night so we could go on a date and we took their boys one night so they could do the same. The kids loved being together so it was a win, win. They get along so well as do we parents! We are so blessed with these sweet friends.

I think that catches up to Easter.

Registered

Spring Blooms
Today was a big day here at our house. Peanut and I took a walk to the elementary school that is just around the corner from where we live to register her for kindergarten. I really have no idea how we got to this chapter of life so quickly. She was more than excited to go with me and see the school that in just a few short months will be her school where she will go 5 days a week all day long. ALL.DAY.LONG! I can not wrap my head around the fact that I will not see her from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. I am going to miss her.

Later today I was thinking about the fact that we really only have a few months left in which we have freedom to just go and do as we please. After those few short months are up, we are really tied down. There will be no more hopping the van to go to the zoo together. No more leisurely mornings of playing in our pjs. No more last minute play dates. I know we'll have the summers and breaks for these things, but wow...how it will change.
Kindergarten Registration
I do know that my little girl is ready for it all to start now. For that I am grateful. She is confident. She is excited. She is eager. She will thrive. I am pretty sure that there will be no tears flowing from her eyes on her first day. I will be the one holding that little hand and having a hard time letting it go.
Kindergarten Registration
They always tell you it will go so fast. Boy, were they right!

Celebrating with Dobbie

Dobbie was here for the weekend so we had to celebrate Pumpkin's birthday one more time. How many is too many celebrations? I don't think there can ever be too many. I also made her special birthday cake for our weekend celebration. I LOVE doing this for my girls. I know now why my mom loved doing it for me and I think of her as I make my girls' cakes each year.
Pumpkin's 2nd Birthday
We are all so ready for spring this year so Pumpkin got a blue bird cake. I was so happy with how the little birdie turned out. It was so easy. Really....just trace the shape on the cake and fill in with a star tip. I hope my girls will look back over pictures someday and be filled with memories of their cakes and know how much I loved making them for them.
Pumpkin's 2nd Birthday
Dobbie brought some special birthday gifts for Pumpkin too. The big one which is for both girls was a little red wagon. They were both so excited about it! We had to test it out of course. It is so nice and pulls so easy. It will be wonderful for summer adventures!

The girls had so much playing with Dobbie. Pumpkin calls her, "Bob" or "Bobbie."

Happy Birthday sweet girl!

And now if you ask her how old she is you will get "TWO!" with puckered lips and one finger from each hand held up!

She may not be birthday-ed out, but I think I am! We made it!

It's Open!

Farmer's Market
Spring must surely be here because the Farmer's Market re-opened this past weekend. Dobbie was here visiting so we took her along with us. We LOVE the market. I know I have said it before but it really is my favorite thing to do here. There is always entertainment. There is always yummy coffee and treats. There is always $1.00 bags of kettle corn. There are always gorgeous displays of produce and flowers. It is a great way to spend a Saturday morning with the girls.
Farmer's Market
And the weather this past Saturday was almost magical. We have had several weeks of cold weather return but Saturday it was warming up again and the sky was a brilliant blue with spectacular clouds floating by.
Farmer's Market
We are blessed with such a great place to go and for our littles to see the incredible produce that our land produces!

Pumpkin Spice

Well, she went and did it. She let herself turn two. I can't believe it. Two years old, how did it happen so fast? In reality she's been itching to be two for quite some time according to her rambunctious spirit, shall we say?

I do believe she got it, that it was her birthday. She was pretty excited about it all and it ain't over yet. We have more celebrating to do.
Gigi Visit
Gigi stopped by on Tuesday on his way home from Florida. He brought a really cool water table for Pumpkin's birthday. It was approved with great squeals of delight and giggles.
Gigi Visit
We did a little celebrating on Wednesday as a family for her big day. She got to sport a little birdie shirt that I made her for her special day.
Happy Birthday
After her nap she got to open her presents with lots of help from Peanut. Peanut did a great job helping me pick out the couple of special things we got for Pumpkin.
Happy Birthday
We had little cupcakes to celebrate her big day with. We did her special cake this weekend. To be honest, all she had for supper on her birthday was two mini cupcakes! She saw them and would have nothing to do with her supper. You can only do that on your birthday!
Happy Birthday
So she is two. I'm not sure how I feel about that. It goes so fast! Boy, does she fill our lives with laughter and joy, though. She is chatting up a storm and starting to form small two to three word sentences. She is as strong willed and determined as ever too. I continually remind myself what an asset that will be when is grown up and pray we know how to properly channel it for the present.
