Fun with Friends

We have had a very busy week. Daddy's brother's family was here for the week. Peanut and Pumpkin had a wonderful time with their 4 cousins. I promise to share pictures and stories very soon. I have some pictures uploaded to our Flickr account that I have needed to get on the here we go.

Pumpkin is growing in leaps and bounds. She is in size 2 diapers and moving into 3-6 months clothes! It is mind blowing to me how fast she is growing as Peanut was tiny for so long. I had to take the girls to the doctor this past week as they were sick and Pumpkin is already 14 lbs! She was 12 lbs. 10 oz. just a couple of weeks ago. She will be 3 months old on June 30. And I am proud to announce...SHE HAS ROLLED OVER! At 4:00 a.m. this past Friday morning, I found Pumpkin on her back and a bit confused. :) She has been rolling on her side for a few weeks now so we knew it was coming. She continues to be a little ham! I think she will be quite a character. If you make any kind of eye contact with her, you will be rewarded with a huge grin...this makes nursing interesting as I can't make alot of eye contact while she is eating because she gets too busy smiling at me. That is a sweet problem, though.

Last week we met some friends at a fun kid's place. It was an old warehouse that is now filled with huge blow-up toys for the kids to play on. Peanut had a blast with her buddies.

Got news last night that the doctors, insurance, and friend's hubby decided she needs to stay at rehab for one more week.  Please keep her in your prayers as she was very disappointed about this change in plans.  This will be another week of strength building for her to get home to her babies.

My friend is coming home!  She was moved to a rehab center in Indianapolis just last Friday and was told today that is going home on Saturday!!!!  Thank you for all of your prayers.  Keep praying!

You can keep track of her progress...

Wondering Today

We all have dates that as they draw near we are filled with memories or a sense of wondering about how things could have been.  Today is one of those dates for me.  As June 1 closed in on me, I knew this date would be here before I knew it.  Everyday I thought about this day and how it would feel to me.  It is here.

I wonder...
Would you be taking those first precious steps on your own yet?
Would you babble on and on to us?
How big would you be by now?
How many sweet little teeth would you have?
What would be your favorite toy to play with?
What kind of cake would I have chosen to make for you today?
What would have been the perfect 1st birthday gift for you?
Would we have had a large party for you or a small intimate family party?

There are many things that I wonder about today and there will be moments of sorrow as I miss you so much still.  I wonder about you often and the what if's.  What if?  That question is a slippery slope that I don't like to go down too often, so I just cling to knowing you are in a safe and wonderful place and I wait for the day when I will get to meet you for the first time and hold you.  I cling to knowing that His plan is so much bigger than I can comprehend and you're not being here was a part of that.

But today, Little One, know that my heart loves you and misses you still.
Happy Birthday...

We attended the 75th anniversary of the church where I work yesterday. We went to the service and dinner afterwards. We were both a bit concerned as how the girls would do as we decided to keep them with us and not put them in nursery. They were peep from either. It was a fun morning together as a family.
And of course I couldn't have my girls all dressed up without taking some pictures of them together. They are pretty cute. We feel so blessed by these two precious girls.
Sisters Sisters
Check out Peanut's dress....LOVE IT! It was a $6.00 deal at Kohl's. Couldn't pass that up.
Peanut was sick this past week. She just ran a high fever, no other symptoms at all. It lasted for about 3 days. Gigi stopped in one evening to see the sickie (and the baby).
Daddy had a fun weekend off from work. He got to go to a concert in Chicago with a fellow music friend. He had a blast and did make it home safe and sound as he is a bit directionally deficient. Heehee. Then yesterday he got to spend some time recording a local musician and had a really good experience with him.

I did forget to share in my last post that we took Peanut and Pumpkin to the drive-in theater last Saturday. It was a fun evening together. We saw Up. It was so cute! (and sad...take your kleenex) Peanut kept asking where we were going as we were in the car watching the movie. Heehee. She had a hard time understanding why we just sat in the car. But then the movie started and she was fine. She watched Up pretty intently and really liked the balloons and silly bird. Daddy and I planned on our precious daughters falling asleep so we could watch the second movie which was Star Trek (we are not Trekkies, but love J.J. Abrams who did Star Trek and does LOST, so it has to be good). Well, things did not go as planned. Our radio speakers starting going and crackled pretty loudly, the car next door had their radio too low for us to hear the movie well, and the girls were both wide awake! So, we decided to just go home and get to bed. We'll just rent it when it is out. Ha!

Hope you are all doing well! Keep praying for my friend if you think of it. Her husband, doctors and insurance are working hard to figure out the next step for her rehab. She had two blood clots form in her groin this past week that were causing a lot of discomfort. It sounds as if these are under control but the doctors aren't sure how they formed as she is on medicine to prevent blood clots from forming. She got to spend all day yesterday with her family. I can only imagine how sweet a time that was for her. I will keep you updated on her situation.

I'm Here!

Papa's Glasses Papa's Glasses
Sorry it's been awhile. It is impossible to find spare minutes in the day with two kids. Wow! I am lucky to get laundry and dishes done each day. And how does one little person create so much more laundry? I don't understand. :) And why does baby poopoo stain so bad!!!! I got a great stain remover recipe from a friend today and plan on trying it. She said it will even take out stains that have been in clothes for a while!
Sweet Oh Dear!
Little Pumpkin is not so little. We had her 2 month appointment last week and she is already up to 12 lb. 10 oz (90th percentile) and 23 1/2" (75th percentile)! Peanut was 12 lb. 4 oz. at 4 months!!!!! Pumpkin is certainly surpassing her sister in weight gain. She sure is cute with her double chin and rolly thighs! She is making all sorts of sounds now and a few little giggles. Oh how I love those baby sounds. She is a MOVER too. Her legs are ALWAYS kicking and moving. They never stop. I also gave in and let her be a belly sleeper. It was so hard at first because we moms have it pounded into our heads that this is horrible but she is really only content on her tummy. I put her at one end of her crib at bedtime and by morning she has moved to the opposite end! When this little girl starts crawling, we are going to be in for it.
Belly Sleeper
And oh how she watches Peanut. It is so great. She adores Peanut so much and Peanut adores her. Pumpkin gets so excited when Peanut is running around and playing. You can just see in her eyes how much she wants to be on the move and able to play with her!
Riding the Horsey!
Peanut is doing wonderfully! She is the sweetest little thing. She still has her lion friend although she doesn't talk about him as much as she used to. She thinks every farmer in the field that we see is "Uncle Dim (Jim)" my uncle, since she got to see him working in Gigi's field the other day. She is singing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" these days. She prays for her family each night at is so sweet to hear her praying. Oh, how it makes my heart soar!
Just a Little Bite? Daddy's Girls
We planted a rose bush from Dobbie after Peanut was born. This year it is really thriving. The blooms are so pretty. I had to get a pic of Peanut with it.
Her Roses
Pumpkin had her first go at a bottle. Dobbie got to give it to her. It was so funny to watch Pumpkin's face. She knew something was very different but she just kept downing it. She didn't do quite as well on her second go at it, but enough that she wouldn't starve if Mommy wasn't around. Ha!
First Bottle
I got to help at a fundraiser for my friend who had the stroke. She is doing remarkable! She is still in rehab in Chicago until June 18th. They will decide next week what will happen next. I will keep you posted on that. Please keep praying for her. The fundraiser consisted of selling Prayer Warrior wristbands. All of the proceeds will go to her family to help with medical costs. If you are interested in buying a wristband or lots of them, please let me know.
Here are the sweet sisters together. Peanut is teaching Pumpkin how to play in the first picture with the toys on her swing! :)

This is how you PLAY! DSC01079
Tonight Peanut was talking about how Pumpkin was in the hospital. I explained that yes she was when she was a brand new baby. She said, "She not brand new now." Heehee.
