Gardening and Flowers

This is going to be more of a picture post. Peanut and I spent alot of time helping Grandpa plant his garden this week. We planted tomatoes, potatoes, onions, peppers, green beans, pumpkins, carrots, zucchini, squash, and cucumbers. We are worn out. The below picture do NO justice for the fun that Peanut had playing in the dirt and water to create MUD! She was a complete mess, but she cleans up well. Hope you enjoy!

Her pants were a bit too big, then with the weight of the mud and water, they didn't want to stay up! A farmer's got to do what a farmer's got to do.

We also visited Dobbie and Papa and took time to stop and smell the flowers.

And one more picture to end with and to keep with the messy motif....

There are many more pictures on our flickr site.
Hope you all are having a great week!

One Decade

(*New pictures have been added to this blog. So if you have already read, check for new photos. Don't know why some of the new ones are sideways. Sorry! Just tilt your head.)
Mama and Peanut
Yesterday Daddy and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We both can not believe that 10 years have come and gone since our wedding. It is amazing. We were talking about it and the fact that we could have a 9 year old child by now. I can' t imagine, nothing against all you 9 year olds out there. I am just glad that we waited and that we have a 22 month old instead. :)

Our wedding was perfect. I wish I had a picture to share with you but we were married before the digital picture age and we don't have a scanner. I will try to get one to post on here. Dobbie made my wedding dress and I would still pick it today. It was gorgeous. I had found a picture in a bridal magazine and that is all that she went by to make it. Funny story....Dobbie and Papa lived in Ohio at the time of our engagement so I mailed the picture of the dress to her. I had written all over the picture adding what else I wanted or didn't want. A few weeks later Daddy and I drove to Ohio so Dobbie and I could pick out the material to make the dress. On our way to JoAnne's, she kept talking about how unsure she was about making all of the poofs and billows that were on the dress. I kept thinking, "What poofs and billows?" Finally I asked her to get the picture out to show me what she was talking about. She pulled out the picture and showed me the dress that was on the other side of the magazine page that I had ripped out! For 2 weeks she had the picture of the wrong dress hanging on her fridge, telling Papa over and over that it just didn't look like a dress that her daughter-in-law to be would pick out! She had not looked on the reverse side and seen my writing nor the perfect dress for me! Ha. The dress she had been looking at was very tight fitting with all of these poofs all over. It was a very modern take on the wedding dress...nothing that I would pick out at all. Haha!

Happy Anniversary Honey!

Last night the three of us went out for supper and ice cream. It was just wonderful to be all together as we didn't see much of each other this last week. Peanut ate up the time together. We are planning to go away for a couple of days next week. It will be good to get away. We haven't gone on a vacation other than visiting family in a few years.

This last week was another FULL week. Daddy spent the week recording at Dobbie and Papa's cabin. (Thank you so much Dobbie and Papa. How is your hearing? Ha!) Daddy was glad to be done as he missed his little girl a whole bunch. I was busy wrapping up another year of preschool. It is done! We had our final class picnics and said goodbye. Wow!

Here Peanut is helping Dobbie pick out flowers at a local greenhouse one of the days that she watched Peanut for us.

Last weekend Peanut and I stayed with our friends overnight. Mr. Friend was kind enough to watch all the kiddos so that Mrs. Friend and I could have some quality adult time away. Mrs. Friend is heading off to basic training in a few weeks so it was much needed quality time. We took in the new movie Baby Mama which was very funny. We spent some time shopping and had a yummy dinner at Papa Vino's. The kids had alot of fun together and even played dress up as you can see from the pics below. Peanut either is a princess or a gnome. Ha!

In this next picture, Peanut is displaying her secretarial skills. She can work on the computer and talk on the phone at the same time. Unbeknownst to her though, the phone is actually a Wii controller!
Future Secretary????

We also had some other friends spend the night with us this week. We were able to catch up and let our kiddos play together. Peanut enjoyed having another little person around and some other adults to pay attention to her. :)

Peanut and I celebrated the beginning of summer vacation today by walking to our local Farmer's Market. She enjoyed seeing all the people and flowers that were there. We spent some time at the library playing then headed to the coffee shop to share a cranberry scone. We ended our time out at the playground with many trips down the slide. Finally the weather seems to be warming up enough to get outside. It was another chilly week here but it is looking good for Memorial Day.

And Peanut has a new "word". It is "Psst!" Ha! She also has a new silly face that she loves to share.

Is it Friday Yet?

Daddy's Kiss!
This has been one of those weeks that I just haven't had time to breathe it seems. Things at preschool are wrapping up. Last week was graduation busyness, this week has been field trip busyness, and next week will be picnic and last day busyness. Then DONE for the summer! I always go into the summer thinking it will pass slowly and leisurely by. It never does.
Zoo Again! Zoo Again!
Peanut did get to go along with me on my preschool field trip to the local zoo. Most of our students had at least one parent attending. I knew one of the chaperons personally and she was delighted to have Peanut go. It was a beautiful day with the weather actually cooperating for us. It has been a cool, wet spring here. Peanut wore her snazzy sunglasses during the whole field trip!
Zoo Again! Zoo Again!
Our friend treated us both to a fun ride on the zoo train. Peanut's first train ride!
Zoo Again!
I have a funny Peanut story to share with you. On Tuesday Daddy joined us for our last storytime at the library. Afterwards we decided to go to McDonald's for supper as we haven't had much time together this week. We were in separate cars so I took off with Peanut. We pulled up to a stoplight and as the weather was nice (something that has become very strange these days) we had the car windows down. I was watching the light when I heard Peanut say, "Hi!" Then to my surprise I heard a male voice say, "Hi," and laugh. I turned around and saw that a white truck was beside us and the man had his window down. Peanut saw him and was being friendly! She even told him, "Bye," when we pulled away. It was pretty funny.

Here are some great pictures that a friend caught of Peanut. I love them so much and have to share them with you even though I did "steal" them. Sorry. :)

And We're Back!

***Warning...this is long! Readers beware! Grab a cup of coffee, sit back, and enjoy.

Finally, we're back. Our computer had some problems and we had to send it in to Apple to be fixed, but the wrong thing was fixed so we had to send it in again! AND when it came back everything was GONE, that means pictures too! I was a wreck...poor Daddy didn't want to tell me. BUT I am ok now...we have most of them on Flickr. We just hadn't gotten them put on a cd yet. But do we really need all 5 shots of the same picture? It's ok...really it is. That's what I keep telling myself.

We have had it back for a few days but I just have had no time to sit down and write a blog nor upload the many pictures that were on our camera. I have been looking forward to BLOGGING!!!! I have missed you, old friend. Ha! Am I a blog nerd? Ha!

We have had some fun things going on the past few weeks. Instead of boring you with wordy details, I will post pictures. Just so you know, there are LOTS more on our flickr page.

So to start with...Peanut has had some special surprises. She had the cutest tiny bike waiting for her at Dobbie and Papa's. She loves it so much. This picture was taken with my phone so it is tiny. Sorry about that.

At Grandpa's there was a turtle sandbox waiting for her.
Sand Box

Cora go girl.">We also spent an afternoon with some really good friends at the zoo. They also had us over for supper also. We hadn't seen them all since Daddy's birthday in January and they only live 30 minutes away. We're all so busy! I hate that excuse but it is true.
Zoo Zoo

Zoo Zoo Supper

This picture cracks us up even though it isn't that great. Our friends have a Wii and Peanut found the two controllers, so of course she thought they were phones and called someone, probably Dobbie to tell her about the zoo.

We have spent lots of time outside playing. I found a picnic table and small slide for a total of $5 at a church Trash and Treasure Sale! Oh, I love deals! One problem with playing outside is that Peanut LOVES putting rocks in her mouth and she doesn't care if they are covered in dirt. YUCK-O! We are trying to break this little habit.
Dirty Face

She contintues to be a wonderful Mama with her baby dolls. Here are a couple of pictures of her playing with her babies.
Porch Picnic Going Shopping Feeding the Dolls

At our last Library Storytime, we had a celebration party for baby animals. There was a lamb and lots of chicks. Peanut LOVED it! She even gave the lamb some kisses.
StoryTime StoryTime StoryTime StoryTime

And we got our picture in the local paper! How fun!
We made the paper!

We got some really neat "treasures" from our celebration including lots of stickers which Peanut spent at least a half hour putting on a paper, rearranging and putting on Mommy's face.
Crafty Girl Crafty Girl

This past Tuesday night we went to see our friends graduate from college. Mr. Friend graduated with a degree in public affairs and Mrs. Friend graduated with a degree in biochemistry. Mrs. Friend will be leaving mid-June for Army basic training then this fall will begin Medical School! We are so proud of both of you and are so glad we got to share this happy evening with you.

There were over 1,000 graduates, so the ceremony was 2 1/2 hours long and Peanut did so well. We were very proud of her. She made a new pal, Mr. Friend's brother. He played with her, ate a slimy wet goldfish that she gave him, and even endured a wet spot on his pants which we are hoping was just drool. Ha!
Graduation Graduation Graduation

So as you can see, life has been very full. Last night we had graduation at my preschool. It was a fun evening but sad too. Those kids mean an awful lot to me. It is hard to let them go, but I know they will succeed and do well. The past week has been so busy between working, visiting family, preparing for preschool graduation. Poor Peanut hasn't been home much. We are so thankful for Dobbie's help this week and Papa's. Thank you so much! Needless to say, Peanut and I are just relaxing today. Mama is worn out and Peanut is playing hard with her toys in between thumb sucking sessions on the floor.

Here is what I found one day as Peanut was eating lunch. I was washing dishes and when I turned around this is what I saw.
This has never happened before, so I knew she was pooped! Off to bed she went!

And to close...
We saw another REALLY good movie the other night, but you will need the Kleenex box. It is an independent film called Bella! It was another wonderful movie about the meaning of friendship and sacrifice.

This is the first "flower" that Peanut picked for me last week.
The first flower that Cora ever picked for me.

Here is a special present from someone I love dearly (Dobbie). It will create lots of beautiful things after the master seamstress has given me some serious tutorials!
my new hobby.

I hope you are all enjoying the fresh rhubarb that is in season right now. Yumm-o! Rhubarb is one of my favorite things. I have been busy making Rhubarb Crisp a recipe from Daddy's Grandmother. I will share it with you real quick.

Oatmeal Rhubarb Crunch
1 c. sifted flour
3/4 c. oatmeal
1 c. brown sugar
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 c. melted butter
Mix all until crumbly. Press 1/2 mixture in a 9" square greased pan.
4 c. diced rhubarb
Cover crumble mixture in pan.
1 c. sugar
2 t. cornstarch (I used more)
1 c. water
1 t. vanilla
Combine in saucepan and cook until thick. Pour over rhubarb.
Top with over 1/2 of crumble mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

And lastly, Happy Mother's Day to all you Mommies out there. (I know it's a day early, but I won't have the computer tomorrow.) Motherhood is certainly amazing. I am so grateful to have this beautiful little person who has made me a Mama. I had no idea how hearing your own child say, "Mama" or "Mommy" could make your heart soar. This is my most favorite picture from Peanut's first day!
