One Moment More

Where do I begin? First let me just say, "Thank You!" Thank you to those of you who have sent cards, called, sent emails, visited us, kept Cora for us, lifted us up in prayer and all of the other things that I am forgetting or do not know about. This has been the hardest thing for us to go through. Your support has helped in so many ways.

I had my surgery this past Tuesday. I was a total wreck going into it. Not only was I trying to deal with our loss but I was also trying to prepare for my first surgical procedure ever. I had never even had an I.V. before. Daddy was so supportive during this. The Lord blessed us with the best team of nurses and wonderful doctors. We had never met the doctor who was doing the surgery before so she met with us on her day off the day before. That meant a lot to both Daddy and I. The surgery went as well as it could have. I had spent so much time researching the actual procedure that I was not prepared for the recovery. There have been a number of things that have taken me by surprise during this process.

There have been some very rough patches this past weekend. Daddy stayed home from work today to help me as it was a hard morning. My bff spent last Saturday with me and Friday and Saturday this weekend. The thought of being alone is a bit more than I can handle yet and I am not supposed to be lifting Peanut too much.

Peanut has been such a joy to us during this time. We have had some special times this past week. I will add some pictures below for you to see what she has been up to that has made us smile. I'm sorry that this blog seems so choppy. I just don't know what to write, so enjoy pictures!
Loving the Pudding Loving the Pudding
Peanut has been enjoying using her spoon to eat chocolate pudding! Pudding Face Pudding Face

Peanut has enjoyed putting her "baby" in her jumper and high chair lately. She is such a good mama!

We helped Daddy celebrate his 32nd birthday (although I got confused and thought it was his 33rd birthday, maybe because that's what I turned a few weeks ago. 33 on the brain!) on Saturday with some friends. He got a bluetooth headset for his cell phone, chocolate covered coffee beans, and Season 3 of The Office.

Happy Birthday Daddy! Happy Birthday Daddy!

Hold me
Even though I know you're leaving
And show me
All the reasons you would stay
It's just enough to feel your breath on mine
To warm my soul and ease my mind
You've got to hold me and show me now

Give me
Just one part of you to cling to
And keep me
Everywhere you are
It's just enough to steal my heart and run
And fade out with the falling sun

Oh, please don't go
Let me have you just one moment more
Oh, all I need
All I want is just one moment more
You've got to hold me and keep me

Tell me that someday you'll be returning
And maybe
Maybe I'll believe
It's just enough to see a shooting star
To know you're never really far
It's just enough to see a shooting star
To know you're never really gone

Oh, please don't go
Let me have you just one moment more
Oh, all I need
All I want is just one moment more

Oh, please don't go
Let me have you just one moment more
Oh, all I need
All I want is just one moment more
You've got to hold me and maybe I'll believe

So hold me
Even though I know you're leaving

Loss

Yesterday we learned that we have lost our baby. After some spotting and cramping late on Wednesday night, I was advised to come in to see the doctor on Thursday. After not being able to find the baby's heartbeat, I was sent to our local hospital for an ultrasound and blood test. Later in the day the doctor called to let us know that in fact the baby did not make it. I was at 17 weeks and 2 days, but he said it looked like the baby had died at 15 weeks. It has been really hard to comprehend and understand. After passing that 12 week safe mark, I figured we were fine. Things were going so well and easily. I know it will get easier in time but right now in the midst, it's hard. I am so thankful for caring friends and family who are supporting us through this loss. I am also so very thankful for little Peanut. She has brought smiles to our faces through tears and heartache. She is a joy all the time, but even more now than ever. Thank you for your prayers during this time.

Buh Bies

The title is what Peanut says now when it's time to say good-bye. It's the cutest, cutest thing. I love it. I want her to say it forever! The way that children start pronouncing things is so fun. We have some good friends whose little girl couldn't say Daddy's name, so for a long time she called him "Kaya". It was a sad day when we realized she started calling him by his real name.
Music Girl
Peanut has been slow to say words. She jabbers all the time but does not say too many actual words. Right now her vocabulary consists of:
Mama
Dada
No-no
Uh-oh
Buh Bies
Papa
Dido (for Shiloh her Dobbie and Papa's dog)

I do think she also says her own version of Thank You, once in a while.

Peanut has started singing though. She will walk around and go from jabbering to a sing song jabber. She sings with me at night when I sing her bedtime songs to her. It is precious. She has also started humming to music. Of course we think she will be a musical prodigy. Haha!

She can also wipe her own face like nobody's business! Ha! She loves to carry around dish towels, rags, washrags, paper towel, or clean wet wipes and wipe her face. In fact she is sitting on the floor right now with a wet wipe "blowing" her nose. It's probably runny from sticking a finger up each nostril a little bit ago. She is fascinated by putting her fingers up her nose and in her ears. Holes for fingers! It's pretty humorous. Last night I was singing our good night songs before bed and she put her fingers in her ears, then decided Mommy must have holes in her ears too and put her fingers in my ears. She is always thinking.

So what have we been up to? Daddy and Peanut helped me celebrate my 33rd birthday on Tuesday. They took me to my favorite Hispanic restaurant here in town. It's a local restaurant and oh so good. The waiters love to try to get Peanut to smile at them and play peek-a-boo. It's always fun and so yummy! Daddy and I spent the rest of the evening watching the 3rd season of Lost! We are super excited about the upcoming 4th season. This is our favorite show. We wanted to get ready for season 4 by re-watching season 3. I highly recommend this show if you haven't watched it...but be warned if you watch, you might get addicted. So I enjoyed "getting Lost" very much for my birthday too. Ha! I am at the age now where I had to think really hard about how old I am now. I forget. It's all a blur!
Flood!
Any who...our little town has become very flood ridden this week. All the snow we had melted and that was followed by alot of rain. The waters rose and rose and rose. Many of the streets in our community were closed due to flooding. The schools delayed and our public school even closed all day on Friday when the river was expected to crest. Here are some pics from the flooding. I am so thankful that our house stayed dry.
Flood!
On Friday afternoon Daddy and I surprised my friend Shannon and went to her commissioning to join the Army. She will be graduating in May with her undergraduate degree then heading to medical school to become a doctor. She has spent a lot of time in prayer about what to do as far as medical school. She and her husband decided the best option for them and their family is for her to go to med school through the Army. She will still get to go the medical school of her choice but all of her expenses will be covered by a scholarship given to her from the Army. So Congratulations Second Lieutenant! You can read her own story here.
Army Girl Army Girl
Today I discovered my poor little baby has a yeast infection. She was miserable! It all started a couple of weeks ago when I bought a package of Luvs diapers and used on her. She got red and we thought it was diaper rash but it wouldn't go away. My mother in law thought it might be the diapers, so I switched her to Pampers and she started to clear up but not soon enough. Yesterday she got bad again and it started to itch bad. This morning I got her up and when I changed her, the diaper fell into pieces because she must have been tugging and trying to itch so much all night. I felt horrible and started calling my mother in law for help! I also did an internet search and headed to the pharmacy with my worldwide web knowledge. The pharmacist directed me to the best medicine for her...Clotrimazole. I can already tell a big difference. Peanut had been walking all morning like she had ridden a horse way too long, but now she is walking normal and not pulling at her diaper. I hate to see her miserable. It makes me feel miserable. Thankfully she is feeling better now.

Well, Buh Bies for now!

Valuing our past

We have decided to start another blog where we'll post stories as we research our family tree. It's important to preserve these memories, either of ours or memories that have been recorded. Keeping a genealogy blog is also a motivation to continue researching things, especially if people are reading. :)

Sledding and Building

Sledding
I took Peanut to Grandpa and Grandma's on Friday to get some sledding in. We didn't make it on our usual Wednesday visit due to extreme cold temps and slick, snowy roads. Peanut wasn't sure what to think of this sledding experience. She remained pretty solemn while sledding but started to cry when we brought her in. I guess that means she liked it and didn't want to stop. Here are some pics of her first sledding adventure. (By the way it's supposed to be 50 this week, so you know what is going to happen to all that beautiful snow. Yuck!)

Sledding Sledding
Also this week we finally received our last Christmas gift. I had ordered some wooden blocks for Peanut and was so excited about them but they didn't come in time. In fact, they didn't come. After a phone call to the company, they realized for some reason they had never been shipped so they overnighted them to us. It might be a good thing that they were a little late as Peanut was a bit overwhelmed by all the presents at Christmas. Here are some pics of her playing with her new blocks with Daddy. Her favorite thing to do is...bet you can't guess....knock down Mommy and Daddy's architectural creations.
Blocks

And here Peanut is pretending the arched block is a phone. She just picked it up and started chatting away! We thought that was pretty cute.
Blocks
Well, someone is getting cranky and ready for a bath and bedtime, so I better get.

More Snow

New Year's Snow!
We had a Happy New Year's. Daddy had to work in the evening but was home to celebrate. Dobbie and Papa came over for supper and a movie. We made salmon, chili roasted sweet potato fries, taquitoes, spinach dip and bread, and pecan pie. We also watched a good movie called The Prestige. Daddy and I really like this one. We had seen it before but knew Papa especially would enjoy it. (If you haven't seen it, I recommend it. It's about the demise revenge brings.) Peanut enjoyed playing with her Papa and Dobbie for the evening. She was tucked into bed way before the new year struck.
New Year's Snow!
We also started getting more snow in the evening. What usually takes Daddy 25 minutes to get home from work, took an hour because it was snowing so hard. We couldn't believe how much snow there was on the ground before we went to bed and then even more this morning. Daddy thinks we have close to a foot again. (The snow from a few weeks ago had all melted so we were in need of new snow.) It has been snowing all day and the weather man is saying it could snow through tomorrow around 4pm! Crazy. Peanut and I had fun playing in it before her nap today. We are so thankful for her warm snow suit and red rubber boots from Christmas.
New Year's Snow! New Year's Snow!
It's the kind of snow that sticks to everything. The trees are white and the bushes are toppling over from the weight of the snow. We definitely had a white New Year's!
New Year's Snow! New Year's Snow! New Year's Snow!
On Sunday we got to see some good friends who had been leaving in Texas but are back in the area. Their little boy is 7 months younger than Peanut. She liked watching him and he liked grabbing her face. It was so good to catch up with these dear friends. We are exited to be able to see them a bit more often now that they are a bit closer than Texas
Buddies Buddies
Daddy got to go with us to visit our friends since he got the day off from work as a result of the below picture.
Black Eye
Daddy was assaulted at work by one of the boys in the home he works at. He was grabbed from behind and punched in the back of his head several times. Thankfully he is ok except for delusional thoughts and severe hallucinations. No, he's ok. He does have a black eye and had to get steri-strips on the cut on his upper cheek. We are thankful that he is ok.
New Year's Snow!
We hope you all had a great New Year's and don't have any black eyes!
