More Christmas

Christmas
Daddy's sister and her girls came to celebrate Christmas with us on Wednesday. They stayed at Dobbie and Papa's cabin. The first thing on the list of things-to-do was open presents according to the girls. There was lots of glee over what was inside the packages and oohs and aahs. Peanut got in on the excitement too. Dobbie and Papa gave each of the girls a special doll. Peanut's doll is the "Lamb of God" and they found an antique white wicker stroller for Peanut to push her around in. Peanut adores dolls and is a fantastic mommy to her dolls already. She carries them around, pats them, rocks them, and now even kisses them. So this newest addition to her little family will provide hours of nurturing and loving. I will try to get a better picture of her with her new baby to put up soon.
Christmas Christmas
Dobbie and Aunt Leah spent the evening making liners for the older girls doll baskets. This ended up being a bit more work then they had planned on. It was fun to catch up while they were sewing away on liners. They turned out really cute.
Christmas Christmas
On Thursday we celebrated Dobbie's birthday and Dobbie and Papa's anniversary. They married 38 years ago on Dobbie's birthday. How special is that? Daddy and I got them a sampler with their special names of Dobbie and Papa on it. I attached a picture. Their dog is even included in the sampler. I think it turned out so cute! I got it from Hearthside Collection a local crafter.

We headed up north to KOHL'S!!! Each of us girls had Kohl's cash to spend. We spent some time there then all headed to Carraba's to eat supper. This was quite eventful with 2 toddlers. It was a fun evening with family.

All in all it was a great couple of days. I always enjoy being with Daddy's sister and her sweet girls. It was also fun to see Peanut warm up to playing with the cousins. She wasn't sure what to think at first but by the end of the visit was running around with them. I love to see her with family. There is nothing like family!

Christmas Happenings

We have been busy celebrating Christmas here in the Flick house. Over the weekend Peanut and I got to so see some friends that we haven't seen in awhile. My friend Christi who lives in California was here on Friday. We had fun catching up and playing with Peanut. We'll get to see her again before she heads home. She gave Peanut the cutest little red ladybug boots. Peanut wears them all the time at home. They will be perfect for spring mud puddles!

On Saturday we met up with a friend from college and her family. We met at Hacienda for lunch. They have a little boy who is 6 months older than Peanut. He and Peanut had fun watching each other and playing peek-a-boo.
Kiss, Kiss
After lunch Peanut and I did our Christmas shopping. I had not done any Christmas shopping yet. Thankfully we didn't have alot to get. We were blessed with a great sale at Kohl's where we found most of our Christmas gifts. On Sunday we did our Christmas cooking. We made caramels, cookies, rolls, and cinnamon rolls.
Christmas Nap
We had Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Danner on Christmas Eve and spent some time with Grandpa's sister's family that night. Peanut had fun opening presents and socializing. She got a tea party set, princess mega blocks, a sled, and a Dora the Explorer big wheel. It was a fun day to relax, spend time with family and eat. We ate Christmas lunch with Grandpa of ham, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, rolls, and pumpkin pie. It was a late night for little Peanut. We got home around 12:30 a.m.

(Peanut's new thing is to ooh and ahh when she is excited. You can see the expression she gets in the pic above. It is so funny and cute.)

On Christmas Day we all slept in. Around 11:30 Dobbie and Papa came over and we opened gifts. By this point Peanut was really into gift opening. She did seem to get a little overwhelmed by it all and we didn't even have that much for her. She got some books, toddler markers, Dora vacuum, and a Sesame Street bib from Mommy and Daddy. Dobbie and Papa got her the cutest snowsuit. (Pics below.)

Ten years ago from Christmas Day Daddy asked me to marry him. To commemorate that day he got me a beautiful diamond bracelet and put it inside the same Christmas Boyd's bear that my engagement ring was in. The bracelet is very pretty and I was so surprised.

After presents we ate a yummy brunch. I made a Canadian Bacon Strata along with cinnamon rolls and hasbrowns. It was all good if I do say so myself. We spent the day watching a movie, talking, playing with toys, and playing cards. It was a fun and relaxing day together.

Here are some pics of Peanut in her new snowsuit.

Our Christmas is not over yet. We are heading to Dobbie and Papa's soon as Daddy's sister's family will be coming for a few days. More fun and family ahead!

We hope you all had a blessed Christmas and were able to enjoy family and friends!

Snowed In!

Making Cookies Making Cookies Making Cookies
Peanut and I spent the afternoon with Dobbie and Papa yesterday and made cookies. We made almond crescents and got sugar cookie dough and espresso chocolate shortbread cookie dough in the fridge. Dobbie is going to finish those up today.

It snowed all day yesterday just lightly though. Peanut and I headed home around 9:00 p.m. It wasn't too bad but we took our time driving home. I am the one who drives 20 mph and slows down even more when someone is headed toward me. There is something about having a baby girl in the backseat that makes me very cautious on snowy roads.

The forecast for overnight was SNOW all night long. Daddy and I decided he should just stay at work again. This is the 3rd weekend in a row that it has stormed and he has been stuck at work overnight. It would be nice to be iced or snowed in together. But we are all safe so that is what matters.

Peanut and I woke up to lots and lots of snow this morning. It was so pretty! Everything is covered. I haven't heard any official totals for our community but it looks like it is close to 12 inches. After breakfast Peanut and I headed outside after covering ourselves with many layers of clothes. Peanut loved the snow. She walked up and down the path that I was shoveling. I think she would have stayed out all morning if I let her.

We plan to head out again after lunch and naps. Today the wind is supposed to blow and blow the snow causing the roads to drift shut. That is a nice thing about living in town, we don't get the wind like the country. If we have to get out we usually can. But we don't plan on going anywhere today. Just stay home and enjoy watching White Christmas, relaxing and maybe making cookies. I think I am going to make Chocolate Peppermint Shortbread Cookies.

By the way, if I was a man and I was out snow blowing the sidewalk in front of my house and saw a poor damsel with her tiny little girl out shoveling a path in the snow with a snow shovel, I would go to her and help her by using my snow blower to clear her sidewalk and driveway quickly for her. Just so you know that I would if I were. Ha! I know Daddy would do it when he he is home tomorrow but it is innate within me that it has to be done right now! I am wired that way.

Wedding

Mama and Cora Yesterday we headed to Ohio with Dobbie and Papa for Daddy's cousin's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding. Matt and Joanna have dated for 6 1/2 years and finally tied the knot. Of course, I don't have any pictures of the bride and groom. Oops! I seemed to have focused on a little girl most of the time. Matt and Joanna are certainly dedicated to seeking the Lord in the years that lie ahead. Their wedding was a gorgeous reflection on their commitment to each other and to the Lord and their promise to each other of purity.
Flick Family
It took us 4 hours to get to the wedding, scrunched in a Toyota Corolla with 4 adults and one tiny girl in a HUGE car seat. We were packed pretty tight! And then it was 4 hours home! It feels so good to stretch today! Peanut had it good in that car seat with room to stretch and cross her little legs! Ha!
Dancing
Peanut did so great in the car. I had bought her a new toy for the trip and pulled it out when she was melting down. That really helped. She played and played with her new "palm pilot" grinning from ear to ear. On the way home she was out within 30 minutes of leaving and slept the whole way home as did Mommy and Daddy. Thank you so much Papa for staying awake and driving us home safely.
Dancing
Peanut did very well at the wedding. She got a bit squirmy so Daddy took her for a little walk. During the reception all she wanted to do was walk around and see the people. She even found a few willing souls to hold her, clap with her, and laugh with her. She figured out how to spin around in circles and make herself dizzy to the music. This was great entertainment for Daddy and I. She also got to dance with her Daddy during the Daddy/Daughter Dance. This was more meaningful to Daddy because all Peanut wanted was down so she could run around. She also got to spend some much needed time with her Ohio cousins.
Daddy and His Baby Girl
The cousins all got into their pj's before separating ways on our evening journeys home. So of course I took that as an opportunity for more pictures. Aren't these two so cute together? I think they may spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E with one being the ring leader and one following right behind.

Now I'll end with some pics of our week. It has been filled with finishing up details on a grant being written for the preschool where I work, Daddy finishing up some songs he recorded for a local band, visiting family, and just being with Peanut. We have also seen winter hit with a fury. We have had a couple of ice storms and there is a huge snow storm heading towards us tonight.

This last picture is small because it is from my camera phone but I have to include it because that cheesy smile makes me laugh. I hope you get a kick out of it too!
Just woke up! cheeser head!
We have had a huge blessing here. Last week we were informed that Daddy's employer had changed insurance companies. When I went to get my bloodwork done at the hospital for the pregnancy I was told that our hospital and doctor were not in this plan's network!!!! I was a complete mess and had many tears. If you remember our doctor is a friend of ours whom we trust so much. Not only that now I was going to have to find a doctor over 30 miles away to handle this pregnancy and deliver the baby and go to a hospital 30 miles away. I was not pleased. We talked with our doctor, the woman at his office who deals with insurance and then Daddy's employer's insurance agent. The agent quickly figured this out for us and we are now covered under a different plan that will include our hospital and doctor. The Lord certainly answered this prayer for us. So as soon as we get our new insurance cards we can go and hear this baby's precious heartbeat! Thankfully I have been feeling fine other than tired. We have started our 2nd trimester now. I can not believe that.
