Road Trip

This weekend we went on our first road trip with Cora. She did wonderful! We travelled to Columbus, Ohio to see Kevin's sister and her family. We went with Dobbie. It was a lot of fun visiting with them. We met up with them on Friday for lunch at a local pizza place. One of our 3 beautiful nieces was very excited about taking us to the store Friends 2B which is a part of Build a Bear. So we headed to the Easton Mall which is a very nice mall with some very fancy shmancy stores. Our nieces had fun showing us these stores and picking out a new friend to make and take home. We got a Starbucks (pumpkin spice latte decaf...yum yum!) while we checked out some other stores. I was able to pick up an adorable hat and sweater to go with Cora's Christmas dress. So cute!

We had some grinders for supper before heading back to their house. We finished our evening by watching Scooby Doo 2 with the girls, then headed to bed. Cora did so well. I wondered how she would do sleeping somewhere new. She only got up once to eat and went right back to sleep.

On Saturday we went to see our two older nieces soccer game. It was a bit chilly so I kept Cora cuddled in her blankets inside my jacket. She kept me nice and warm too. The game was fun. It's so neat to see what the girls are up to and be a part of their hobbies. They are both ready for the soccer season to be over this year. It's been busy for them.

We left in the afternoon and headed to the Cincinatti area to see Dobbie's sister. They are starting a quilting business and needed to swap quilts, crafts, materials, and such. It was fun to see her and her family. We headed back to Plymouth at 8:45pm and got home at 2:30 am. We stopped on the way to eat and to feed Cora, so that took a while.

Travelling with a baby is so different. Is she going to cry? Do we have enough diapers? Where will we be when it's time to feed her? Will she be warm enough or too warm? I think we only heard Cora cry one time on the trip. She did so well and so did we, I think!

Here are some pics from Thursday when we visited with Grandma and Grandpa.

Cora's First Bath in Her Tub

I gave Cora her first tub bath last night. I had been scared to do it before because she was so little. Then I wanted to wait until Daddy was around so he could take pictures of it. It worked out to do it last night. She seemed to like it quite a bit. How fun.

She is laying on me taking a nap right now. I just love that. She's so snuggly. I hope that never changes.

Cool Weather Pics

Cora had the cutest little outfit on today for church. A sweater dress and tights for a cold fall day. I couldn't resist taking pictures. We spent the evening with Dobbie and Papa. Here are some new pics from today.

11 Weeks Old

11 weeks ago, we delivered a happy healthy Cora! I can't believe it's been 11 weeks. The time is just going so fast. This week especially flew by. I don't know where it went. It was just Monday yesterday, wasn't it?

Yesterday was Cora's first introduction to cold weather and snow. I don't think she noticed much. Ha! It has been very chilly here and we even had some snow yesterday. The wind is howling today, but thankfully the fall leaves seem to be clinging onto the trees. The leaves are just getting beautiful. It's so hard when they all fall off and it's just ugly. But then the snow falls, and makes it pretty again. Fall is my favorite time of year. I so hope that the weather warms up again so we can continue to take Cora on walks on those beautiful autumn evenings.

We are heading to Colombus, OH next weekend to see Aunt Leah and her family. (That is Kevin's sister.) Dobbie is going with us, so it should be alot of fun. We will be going down south around Christmas to see Uncle Steve and his family, Kevin's brother. Cora has some fun times and memories ahead.

I can't get over what it's like to be a mommy! I love it. This little girl is the love of my life. It's wonderful. She's wonderful!

Happy Birthday Grandma and Grandpa

My parents' birthdays have always been easy to remember because they are exactly one week apart. My dad's is October 5 and my mom's is October 12. The hard thing is to remember who comes first. Haha! We spent the evening with Grandma and Grandpa Danner on Saturday to celebrate their birthdays. I made a meat and potatoes meal for Grandpa and we brought some pretty flowers to Grandma.

I had my camera in hand to take some birthday pics but I didn't get any because Cora was a fussy mess all night. We all tried to console her but not much worked and if it did, not for long. She was beside herself. She finally fell asleep at 9:30 and did ok after that. The only thing that I can think of is that I had a strong cup of caffeinated Starbucks coffee at a worship training meeting in the morning. I have had very little caffeine and as I recall she was a bit fussy those evenings too. This coffee was VERY strong, so maybe that's what it was. How do you know for sure?

Cora and I are spending Wednesdays at my parents' so that my dad can have a free day and get some errands done while I watch Mom. This past Wednesday when we got there, we went in to see Grandma. Cora was talking a little and my mom kept looking up at her. Then we put her on her tummy and Cora started kicking on her. I asked if she felt the baby kicking her and she tried to nod her head. This was the first response of any that we have seen towards Cora. It was so reassuring. Yes, it was small...but at this point in the game, the small things are HUGE!

It was a very busy week on top of my going back to work. Hopefully there will be a bit more rest time at home this week.

Happy Baby!

I have been busy adding new posts this week. Trying to make up for the time that we didn't. This is going to be a short post. I just wanted to post some pics I took yesterday. Besides I hear someone who is waking up, so I better go.

Pumpkin Head

Dobbie made Cora a really cute little pumpkin hat. We tried it on her yesterday only to realize her head is a bit larger than the hat. The hat was pretty snug, but she sure looked cute in it. We had to take some pictures. It's so fun dressing her any way that we think is cute. I hear
that I better enjoy it now, because that will change in a few years. She will want to wear what she wants to wear.

I also starting editing some of our pictures. This has always been Kevin's department so I never knew how to do it. But now I do on a very minimal scale. I just love this smile picture and it is adorable in black and white. We are getting a whole bunch of pics developed. I can't wait to get
them back!

Today was my first day back to work. It was really hard leaving her. I was already feeling very emotional so it didn't help that I had to leave my baby this morning. She did great with Daddy and he did great with her. Mommy was the only one suffering. My day did go well considering. I didn't scare too many of the preschoolers. I was so worried they would run when they saw a new teacher. Haha! I did try to make a few appearances so they would be familiar with my face. I think that helped. We had a pretty good day together. I was so tired when I got home. But not too tired to grab my napping baby and snuggle with her. Tuesdays and Thursdays are going to be hard as my mind is elsewhere.

It was a strange feeling that overcame me when one little girl asked, "Do you have any kids?" I was able to say, "Yes, I do!" How things change! It's so good!

2 Months Old

Our baby girl is now officially 2 months old! I can't believe it. Where has 2 months gone? I love being a mama so much. She has radically and wonderfully changed my world and Kevin's. She certainly has eased us gently into parenthood. We couldn't ask for a happier baby.

I head back to work this Tuesday. I will only be working Tuesdays and Thursdays. Daddy will be taking care of her. He is very excited to have the time with her. It makes it easier to go back knowing he will be with her, too.

Got to make this short. I'll try to get more up during the week. We'll see!
