Shower Blessings

Crossroads Baby Shower for Cora
Our family at Crossroads Evangelical Free Church threw a shower for Cora yesterday. It was such a nice morning with the ladies from church. Cora got so many nice things and such pretty clothes. It's so funny to have all of these pink clothes now. Before she was born everything was green and yellow since we didn't know if she was a boy or a girl. The clothes are so
precious but it's so hard to fathom that very soon she will fit into any of them. They are all so big and she is still so tiny. I did notice the past couple of days that her preemie clothes that have legs in them are getting snug because she is getting longer. (We think she is trying to catch up with her fingers and toes because they are so long.) She can just barely stretch her little legs out. She definetely isn't ready for the newborn sizes. She could go swimming in those. We'll have to make due with our preemie outfits that don't have legs.

Cora and I were blessed with some words of wisdom from the ladies. A very dear friend of ours who has also titled herself as Cora's Fairy Godmother, talked about the power of words and how they can build up or tear down our children. She found several verses to encourage us with. "Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." Proverbs 12:18 She had the other ladies share words that they remember their mothers tell them over and over. Some were quite humorous and others were full of wisdom. It's so wonderful to have sisters to learn from! At the end a few shared what God has taught them through being a mother. One friend shared that she has learned through the years that we are clay and God is the potter of our lives. She said that she has been learning that God is also the potter of her children's lives, not her. The ultimate responsibility belongs to the Lord not to her. We are His servants to be used in the lives of our children. What encouragement!

It was a beautiful morning shared together with yummy homemade Lady Baltimore cake. Now we get to go through everything and see all the cute things again!
